COVID-19: “There Is Light At The End Of The Tunnel”- Senator Opeyemi Bamidele

In the face of the war against the deadly coronavirus, several measures are being preached to citizens on how well to stay safe from contracting the novel Coronavirus.

The latest is coming from Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central) who took to his social media accounts to address Nigerians and People of Ekiti State on the Pandemic which is currently ravaging the world.

Senator Bamidele described this period as a phase which will soon fizzle out, appealing to Nigerians to stays safe, keep hope and adhere to sanitary measures available to them.

He also lauded the proactive measures taken by the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi to steam the spread in the bud.

Excerpts:

“I salute your courage and resilience in the face of a global challenge of the Corona virus disease, firstly, I appreciate his Excellency Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi and his amiable wife, her Excellency, Erelu Olabisi Fayemi for their courage and pro-activeness and for taking the necessary steps and rising up to the challenge head long in ensuring the protection of our people especially by taking out the first case of the disease to prevent the spread in Ekiti State.

I profoundly recognise the efforts of other members of the Federal Executive Council and joining his Excellency the Governor to provide leadership and guidance to the people at this trying moment. More importantly worthy of appreciation is the medical team led by the Honorable Commissioner Dr. Mojisola Yaya Kolade (Ekiti State Commissioner for Health & Human Services) their monitoring and surveillance efforts as well as the prompt medical care took suspected cases are well appreciated.

I thank our traditional rulers and religious leaders for their prayers and supplications even as I implore religious leaders to continue to ensure adherence to government directives for people to avoid large gatherings and other precautionary instructions laid down by medical teams to contain the spread of the disease across the states

Let me also remind us that this is yet another passing phase in the annals of human history. No condition is permanent! Pandemics that are more dangerous than the coronavirus disease has ravaged the world in the past but humanity survived them even though some casualties were abound. Remember, Spanish flu, and even ebola came and faced out.

I am convinced it has come and it will go very soon by the grace of God, therefore this is absolutely not a hopeless situation. There is light at the end of the tunnel! For weeping may endure for the night but joy cometh in the morning.

However, for there not to be casualties, we must be ready to observe the necessary precautions, for the avoidance of doubt. Once again, I wish to emphasis and implore all of us to always wash your hands with water and soap, clean your hands with sanitizer where it is available maintain hygienic lifestyle always clean your environment practice social distancing, avoid large gatherings, stay at home and eat clean food. Report any suspected case the government and avoid traveling as much as possible for now. If we diligently comply with this guidelines, I am persuaded that will soon overcome this menace and put it behind us.

On this note, let us continue to keep faith with the enduring mercies and Grace of the Almighty God and through our prayer and supplications patience and perseverance it shall be well with us all at the end.

Surely, the Lord shall deliver us from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence, He shall cover us with his feathers and under His wings shall we trust, His truth shall be our Shield and Buckler we shall not be afraid for The Terror by night or the arrow that flies by day nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness not for the destruction that waited by noon day. Do not forget this is but it’s passing phase! Tough times don’t last but tough people do.

A stitch in time saves nine! God bless a Ekiti Central, God bless a Ekiti Senatorial District, God blesse the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I Love you all!!!”

Recall that a 38-year-old Nigerian tested positive to Coronavirus in Ekiti earlier this month. According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), the confirmed case is stable and not showing any symptoms while NCDC will repeat the test for the caregiver who is also in self isolation.

The Ekiti State Task Force on COVID-19 is following the NCDC Case Management Protocols with diligence.
