Reopening of schools: Consider public schools – Shehu Sani warns

Former Kaduna state lawmaker, Shehu Sani has warned against reopening of schools as there is an increase in coronavirus cases  in the country.

Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade had sometime last week ordered the gradual reopening of schools across the state from June 16, 2020.

The Federal government on Monday advised states rushing to reopen schools to apply caution as the current situation in the country does not in any way support such initiative.

Reacting to this, Shehu Sani in a tweet via his twitter handle wrote;
“States in a rush to reopen schools should seriously consider the lives of the multitude of children in congested public school.”

“It’s a fact today, many people have completely ignored face masks & social distancing since the lifting of the lockdown. No lessons learnt,” Sani added.

Meanwhile, the Government has announced that schools running an international curriculum, will be allowed to write their third term exams online.

  1. The resumption of schools should be considered across all parastaters. Our government has failed the public system of education and thus decisions made on reopening should also consider the poor state of our public school when compared to private…
    It’s a call for change

    Sani we need change

  2. FG should apply caution in opening of schools as he said because those public schools do not have any equipment or PPE government should put things in order before opening schools.

  3. Any consideration on school reopening should be done from next month July. The pandemic is still with us and increasing but we should not rely on nonsense figure dished out by NcDc. Schools from mid July should gradually reopen
