In Igbo custom any Child born by a Wife automatically belongs to the Husband – Facebook user
A Facebook user @Hugo Abuudo has condemned the need for a DNA test.
In a tweet he shared he said in Igbo custom any child born by a wife in a marriage automatically becomes that of the husband stating that it is a fact that cannot be contested.
He further added that most of our fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers were not actually the biological children of their fathers.
He wrote:
In Igbo custom and culture, every child born by a wife in a marriage automatically belongs to her husband.
There is no contesting it.
DNA/ paternity test is out to destroy the marriage institution as we know it.
Most of our fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers were not actually the biological children of their fathers.
So sometimes I ask, what do you want to do with a paternity test when your own paternity is in doubt?
Though, it’s use to happen in the olden days but you can not compare then with nowadays because there is fear of God in the olden days and but now that someone can kill his/her children for ritual, you will now be expecting someone to impregnate your wife and accept it just like that hmmm that person is insane. Total unacceptable
As the world is changing my dear, people are developing trust issues hence they don’t completely believe in their spouses and this is because our work lacks the fear of God
Left for me, paternity issues are undertaken by those who don’t trust their wives irrespective of what customs says
