IPOB in talks with UN for Biafra referendum

The indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) says they are in talks with the UN for Biafra Referendum.

This was according to a statement by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, where he stated that the UN supervised referendum is a right and will soon take place.

He further added that it will make those living beyond the boundaries of Biafra to equally determine their own fate

“It is quite clear and understandable to every citizen of Biafra and indeed the entire world that we need a referendum, where the people will exercise their right on whether or not they want self-rule or continued existence within Nigeria, he said

“A UN-supervised referendum is a must and a right for every human being in Nigeria to unequivocally state where they wish to belong.

“We in IPOB and Biafrans in general expect the United Nations to supervise this referendum, which will enable even those living beyond the boundaries of Biafra to equally determine their own fate. We want freedom for all, not just for Biafrans alone.”

“IPOB is making frantic efforts to ensure that this happens in the shortest possible time. We are not going to force or intimidate anyone or tribe because the will of the people is sacrosanct and must be respected. Each individual will be allowed to decide where he or she wishes to belong,” he added

  1. What warrant all these agitations is that in Nigeria there is no equity and just. Nigeria is a country where few people above law, no matter what they did they won’t be punished for it but if it happens to those who is a children of nobody there will be no justice. Our leaders should have the fear of God in their hearts and fight for the unity of our nation.

  2. I am an Igbo Nigerian and not an Igbo biafran.Biafra has gone ever since Ojukwu died. Can we look towards making a better Nogeria

  3. In any marriage freedom of association is the umblical cord that make the union work. Once that association is severed the marriage relationship is dead. One one section of the country continually cried of marginalization and want out, their agitation should be looked into. Biafra has fought a war for independence and was beaten back to the country, yet those things that caused the war still exist tenfold without any hope of abating. If u dont include one in ur organization, why not let him go. Nigeria has nothing to lose if they allow Biafrans to go. At least that share of national cake they give them will now be wholly theirs. Think about it
