Covid-19 test kit has been developed and will be made available commercially- FG

The Federal Government has made it known that Nigeria has developed the RNA-Swift, a test kit for the identification of SARS-COV-2 the causative agent of COVID-19.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the development of the test kit was aimed at speeding up effective testing of Nigerians during the pandemic as it will now be made available commercially.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, talking to reporters in Abuja said;

“The RNA-Swift has amazing precision for the detection of SARS-COV-2 and will be commercially available at a price that places it ahead of competitors in terms of sensitivity and affordability.”

“I want to confirm to you that the RNA-Swift product team is in consultation with the African Development Bank for the funding of an African-wide testing programme for COVID-19 and the establishment for RNA-Swift production in Nigeria,” he said

  2. A lot of Buhari ministers are redundant just as Buhari. This minister should be ashamed of saying that their so called locally manufactured kits should be commercialised. Where are the monies donated by philantropists and donor agencies. When will this country ever get it right. Every other country are doing all within their limits to cushion the effect of the pandemic on their populace but we do everything to put our people in tight rope
