Resumption of international flights, August 29 not certain – FG

Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has clearly stated that the August 29 resumption date of international flights is uncertain.

Coordinator of the PTF, Sani Aliyu said this on Monday following the minister of aviation’s announcement, Hadi Sirika had stated that international flights are to resume on the 29th of August.

Aliyu stressed that authorities must meet the criteria before international air transport is allowed.

“We will spend a whole day discussing international travel and how this will be done. And if I may clarify, we said from the 29th of August, we didn’t say on the 29th of August.
“So, very similar to what we did for the domestic flights. Don’t come back and say that we promised we will open on the 29th, but that date is not sacrosanct; but we will work towards it,” he stated.

He added that the the flights would commence with the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos.

  1. It’s a welcome development for Nigerians who has one or more things to do outside Nigeria and I hope it will also reboost our economy. I hope they will follow COVI-19 protocols.

  2. PTF should also come up with modalities that will enable us to open our institutions for the benefit of our children. Opening of the international flights is good and I hope it’s not for the benefit of your children that study abroad.

  3. This is noted
I don’t travel on air and I don’t plan to do so in the nearest future
This is the business of people who use flights to travel
    They should iron that out
