NDDC: EFCC begins probe of Akpabio and Pondei

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed that it has begun a probe into allegations of diversion of public funds made against the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio and the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Prof. Daniel Pondei.

The development was disclosed in an acknowledgement letter written by the anti-graft agency in response to a petition it received from a group, Foundation for True Freedom and Good Governance.

The convener of the foundation, Deji Adeyanju, requested the EFCC to investigate the allegations made against the Minister and the NDDC boss.

The duo had been accused of diverting N40 billion in commission.

Responding to the petition, the head of Economic Governance at the EFCC, Adebayo Adeniyi reportedly revealed that investigation had commenced.

  1. Firstly, I will appreciate the step taken by deji adeyanju and also good move from EFCC. I will just implore them (EFCC) to carry out their work diligently and according to the law without being biass, so that people will still have the trust in them.

  2. 40 billion is huge amount of money for few people to siphon it. The EFCC should the thorough investigation on this and bring the perpetrator to book. EFCC should bring anybody, I mean anybody no matter how influencial the person is, they should not bargain with anyone found culprit.

  3. In Africa, politicians assend to posts to start looting public funds. Most of them, if not all don’t fight for position so as to impact on the well being of the entire citizenry. They only do this to emance wealth most times they accumulate wealth they don’t even need
    See the amount these two people are accused of looting, what the hell will they do with N40 billion
    The masses who this funds are meant for will be dying in penury while them will be swimming in money
    The EFCC should investigate them thoroughly and if found guilty should deal with them severely and accordingly without minding whose ox is gored
