NBA conference: El-rufai reacts as NBA cancels invitation

Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-rufai’s invitation to this year’s Nigerian bar association (NBA) conference has been cancelled after some lawyers made series of complaints in a petition asking for his invitation withdrawal.

Reacting to this, El-rufai in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Muyiwa Adekeye, on Thursday described the withdrawal of his invitation as an ”unfortunate embrace of injustice”.

He however, insisted he will continue to offer his opinions on critical issues in the country and his voice will not be silenced.

“While the decision about who speaks at its event is clearly the NBA’s, Malam El-Rufai wishes to make clear that he did not seek the platform and is not agitated that he has one less speaking engagement.

“However, the circumstances of the last few days warrant some comments. That a professional organisation has elected to endorse a one-sided narrative on a profound national issue is something that its members may wish to reflect upon.

“For an association, whose bread and butter is about justice, to make a ruling based on the stridency of people who lampoon judicial processes against certain individuals without hearing the other side is odd. It bears noting that in its response to pressure, the NBA leadership has signalled an unfortunate embrace of injustice, unfairness, absence of fair hearing and total disregard for the rule of law,” the statement read.

  1. Mallam Nassir El Rufai is supposed to bury his face in shame. He has nothing to say and nothing to offer. Somebody must not argue everything just for the sake of talking. Everyone knows that this man El Rufai is not behaving well and he himself knows too
How can he say he is a governor of a state and people are being massacred on daily bases in the state where he is leading and it is obviously clear that he is doing nothing to stop it.
The land of Kaduna state has been saturated with blood, both the blood of men, women, girls, boys, young children and El Rufai still has the mouth to talk
If he were to be a sane person with conscience, he should have resigned his post as a governor
He even needs more worst treatment than the one the Nigeria BAR association has given him

  2. It’s so unfortunately for someone like you not to be the speaker of such highly association. Our leaders should make sure that they justice prevail in all of their dealings without jeopardizing it. It’s a lesson to you.

  3. I think all our leaders should not be bias in their dealings, tackle the insecurities any other things that is not good in their dealings. This is dent to his image.
