Nigeria will witness a turn around if an Igbo president emerges in 2023 – Ohanaeze

The apex Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo is of the opinion that Nigeria will experience transformation when a president of Igbo origin emerges in 2023.

Nnia Nwodo, the president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, stated this in a congratulatory message to Nigerian-born Kelechi Madu, the newly appointed minister of justice and solicitor general in Alberta, Canada.

In his congratulatory message, he commended Madu on his achievement adding that the exploits of Igbo sons and daughters all over the world shows the capability of the Igbo people which will bring Nigerian a huge turn around if an Igbo man emerges president come 2023.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo is highly honoured by the exploits of Kaycee Madu in far away Canada as an Igbo son. Mr Madu had contested and won a seat into the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the electoral district of Edmonton-South West from where he was appointed and sworn in as Minister of Justice and Solicitor General by the Premier of Alberta, Jason Kenney, on April 30, 2020,” the statement read.

“On behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, I commend the sterling qualities of Mr Kaycee Madu, as well as other Igbo sons and daughters who have excelled so much outside the country, such as the recently appointed first black Vice Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University in the UK, Prof Charles Egbu, and many others.

“The exploits of Igbo sons and daughters both within and outside the country are indices of the cerebral capability and ingenuity of the people which Nigeria could exploit to advance its development.

“The Federal Government should stop marginalising and victimising the Igbo in the country so that the latent creative potentials could be harnessed for the good of all. Nigeria would witness a turn around in her fortunes if a president of Igbo extraction was allowed to emerge in 2023.”

  1. Yes this might be true but no one will take the position and dash it to the Igbos. The Igbos have to fight for it for them to achieve this aim
They have to come together and put their house in order and speak with one voice
Congratulations to Kaycee Madu for this wonderful post given to him far away Canada
I hope you will perform well

  2. Really its all about change….I choose to live by choice, not by chance. To make changes, not excuses. To be motivated, not manipulated. To be useful, not used. To excel, not compete. I choose self-esteem, not self pity. I choose to listen to my inner voice, not the random opinions of others.

  3. Nobody asks igbo president not to emerge in 2023, you have freedom to political party, therefore igbo can contest under any platform of any parties and win the election.

  4. As you can see, no one asks igbo not to be the president of Nigeria you are the one who said that you need Biafra not president. Moreso, igbos are not working for the unity of the country because you always believed in the party that ruling on which is minority. Igbo needs to work with other regions before they can actualize their dream.

  5. The agitation for Biafra and the fear of division of Nigeria will not give room for an igbo to become nigeria president.
An igbo man becoming the president of this Nation will not solve the current issue in Nigeria, what we need is a man of integrity.
