Covid-19: we have spent N31billion – FG

The Nigerian Government has made it known that it has spent close to N31billion in its fight against Coronavirus.

In the statement released by the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris in response to the Freedom of Information request dated August 10, 2020, and sent to him by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) and Connected Development (CODE), the amount spent so far represents 84% of the N36.3 billon public funds and donations received to respond to COVID-19 between 1st April, 2020 and 31st July, 2020.

It was gathered that there is now a balance of N5.9 billion from the donation.

  1. I know this is what we be the outcome of the public found money…… Nigeria why are we like this? A hole #31billion is too much now. Which covid-19 did tackle, Corona virus is not up to how you are mentioning it are we not in Nigeria, we have been expecting this for so long because we already know this will happen. Let me tell you Accountant General to the Federation your collation of this public found is not so and you must beer for it and people behind it. You spent 31b so far and covid-19 is not yet over till now, so you will still need another money os that not? You are not truthful.

  3. Haha! Why are they just telling us the figure? You were asked to highlight how you how you spend the money donated to you but you are just telling us the figure. Come out and explain or highlight how you spend the money.

  4. You spent #31 billion to tackle COVID-19 but what and what were you you were you able to procure for your citizens, what palliative were you able to provide for Nigerians. I hope you included the money that NDDC shared among themselves. All these money you are talking about, you shared it among yourselves not for masses.

  5. We are not interested on how much is been spent or how much is left all we hope is that the money should be used for what is meant for and not been tempered by some certain individuals.

  6. am not surprised at the figure that was why they don’t want to accept any vaccine that will kill this virus because of what they are benefitting from it, but the question is how was it spent? So you people should tell us we are all ears.

  8. I don’t think spending money like this is good when we have alot of people dying of hunger, the truth is that hunger kills more than covid_19 we should just think wisely

    No wonder they have been talking seriously about this covid of a thing. I know many people have gotten so so rich from this
    What and what did they use all these funds to do

  10. I was expecting that there will be no more left from the donation, and the federal government will say it has borrowed money in the fight against Corona
