Hike of Commodities may lead citizens to suicide or selling their children – PDP tells Buhari

The peoples Democratic party (PDP) have warned of the impending consequences of the hike in prices of major commodities in the country.

According to a statement by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, he said the hike may cause citizens to resort to suicide, slavery missions abroad or even selling of their children to make ends meet.

Reacting to a remark by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on Nigeria been one of the countries in west and central Africa having the lowest electricity and fuel price tariff, termed his assertion as irrational.

In a statement he issued yesterday, Ologbondiyan said:

“We remind President Buhari that this hike will worsen the scary situation in the last five years, where compatriots are resorting to suicide, slavery mission abroad as well as selling of their children as options.

“PDP therefore rejects the highly irrational argument by the Minister of Information, Mohammed, that fuel price is lower in some West African countries, without presenting the contradictory economic settings in those countries and ours.”

  1. the opposition is right on this, this is absolutely not the right time to hike commodities because we’re still in the midst of pandemic, people are hungry, no job, and many more, so this can attract more crime in the country.

  2. Yea it will lead so many people to do what they are not supposed to do all in the name of to eat at least. But any body that will sell his or her child because of Buhari’s administration God will not forgive that person and child’s blood will forever haunt that person.

  3. From this point on in life nothing is ever going to be the same. Nothing can ever be the same. I don’t want anything to ever be the same.the Government should hep the citizen.

  4. I’m not surprised with what minister of information alhaji Lai Muhammed said, not only him but every government use to the comparism in only what favors them without considering the other aspects of it. When he is comparing only fuel hike and electricity tariff what of amenities are we enjoying it in Nigeria as the other Africans are enjoying it. I will implore the honourable minister to the comprehensive analysis next time doing so. We won’t commit suicide, we know God will grant is his mercy.

  5. Honourable minister of information alhaji Lai Muhammed always compared what it’s not ought to be. Why can’t he compare their salaries and allowances with other Africas Even not only Africa and also with Europe, we are the one paying highest money. Once you hike the price of commodities then why can’t you seek for decrement in salary and allowances. Nigerians know that you are wicked if not you won’t only compare what is going to favors only without considering the citizens and to the PDP, you created this problems right from the onset.

  6. Tell him again & again… he will still insist doing things the wrong ways….I don’t really understand the kind of person rolling us, I pray god put and END to all this rubbbish we are going thru🙏

  7. u maybe right but that should not be the reason parents should go around selling they children or person commuting suicide pls people should learn to deal with the present conditions we found ourselves we all know that things re very hard but with God we can over come it

  8. This present government seems not to care about the sufferings of the masses which have reached the peak
It is like they want to fry us in pan or fire. The way they hike the prices of essential commodities is surprising and annoying
We beg on the government to cut down these prices hiked since the common man can barely see money to buy food to eat
The suffering in the land is getting out of hand and Lao Muhammadu is out there saying what he can not prove

  9. Lai Muhammed is a bastard I this country, he is big fool.
This Hike Will Worsen The Scary Situation, buhari should do something if not think will worse.

  10. Problems are with every one, it is on us to become the victim or overcome the situation and become successful.it time we fight for our right
