Go to your financial institutions and obtain a self-certification form – Buhari tells account owners

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government on Thursday, directed all account holders in all financial institutions which includes banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions to obtain, complete and submit Self–Certification Forms.

This was according to a tweet shared via the verified Twitter account of the Government of Nigeria where it was made known that the forms are required by the relevant financial institutions to carry out due diligence procedures in line with the Income Tax Regulations 2019

Failure to adhere to this instruction the Government said will attract sanctions which may include monetary penalty or inability to operate the account.

“INFORMATION: This is to notify the general public that all account holders in Financial Institutions (Banks, Insurance Companies, etc) are required to obtain, complete and submit Self – Certification Forms to their respective Financial Institutions.”

“Persons holding accounts in different financial institutions is required to complete & submit the form to each one of the institutions. The forms are required by the relevant financial institutions to carry out due diligence procedures in line with the Income Tax Regulations 2019

“The self-certification form is in 3 categories: – Form for Entity – For Controlling Person (Individuals having controlling interest in a legal person, trustee, etc) – Form for individual.

“Failure to comply with the requirement to administer or execute this form attracts sanctions which may include monetary penalty or inability to operate the account. For more enquiries visit @firsNigeria website (http://firs.gov.ng) for more details.”

    Policies that are enemical and disturbing to the public. I don’t know if this man is aware at all of the problems the citizens of this country are passing through already
    There is so much suffering in the land, people barely can feed once a day and he seems not to care bringing up policies that will continue to dry the little amount remaining in the masses hand
    Is this the change he promised us that made so many people to vote for him
    How many persons have a job in this country that he is talking of tax again
    All the monies the derive from the natural resources of this country, what do they do with it if not to mismanage and loot them away
    Please this man should stop strangulating the people with these his obnoxious directives
    He should first of all give job to people before he starts talking of this tax issues

  4. Which government do we have in this country? When it comes to what concerns them about money or things that will benefit them, they will quickly mandate it for us but when it comes to what will benefit Nigerians they bother about it.

  5. This government only concern about tax but it comes to social amenities to Nigerians they will turn to deaf hear. Now they mandate us to go and obtain this for by force but not ready to take Nigerians out of poverty. This is act of wickedness, they didn’t mandate every governors to pay minimum wage but otherwise. This is act of wickedness.

  9. What is important to him is how to generate revenue.always looking means to get money from the masses. First was petrol hike, then hike in electricity tariff,interest rate reduced and tax gone up. What a scamming government
