Okonjo-Iweala makes final round in WTO selection

Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and South Korea’s Yoo Myung-hee are the candidates who have made it to the final rounds in the race to lead the World Trade Organization (WTO)

With the two women advancing to the final round of the selection process, the WTO will likely have its first female director-general in its 25-year history.

Okonjo-Iweala served two stints as Nigeria’s Finance Minister and is a former managing director of the World Bank.

Yoo is South Korea’s current Trade Minister. During her 25-year career in government, she has helped expand the country’s trade network through bilateral accords with the USA, China and the UK.

  1. How I wish okonjo iweala to the one that will lead the world on this, with her wealth of her experience she will be able to lead perfectly. I wish her success in the forthcoming election of the world trade organization.

  2. It’s not an easy task to lead the world but with the experience that she has already had during her stay with Switzerland bank, it will an added advantage for her. Congrats in advance.

  3. I’m always happy with this woman anytime I heard her name because wherever she is, she always exhibit diligence in delivering her work. If she eventually emerge as world trade organization executive it will be an added advantage to Nigeria and Nigerian will benefit largely from the organization. Nigeria will always proud of this woman.
