FG budgets N336m to fight hate speech
The federal government has budgeted N336m to fight hate speech and fake news which many critics say is an attempt to stiffle free speech.
In the 2021 budget proposal presented to the National Assembly by the President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday October 8, it was gathered that the money will be used for special enlightenment campaign on government policies and programmes; testimonial series to gauge the impact of government policies on the citizenry, advocacy against fake news, hate speech, farmers-herder clashes, banditry, rape etc.
It read;
“ERGP9124023 Special enlightenment campaign on government policies and programmes; testimonial series to gauge the impact of government policies on the citizenry, advocacy against fake news, hate speech, farmers-herder clashes, banditry, rape etc. ongoing- N336,015,959.”
Imaging this useless people… What to the FOA (Freedom of information Act)that was signed during Jonathan regime… Misplace of priorities and just like wasting our resources… Useless people
The money budgeted for all these Fake News, Hate Speech, Farmers-Herder Clashes, Banditry, Rape etc will go to few people pulses, if things work out on how it ought to and spend the money on what they earmarked it for, all these things will go down.
Why is our government behaving like this? This is huge amount of money proposed to spend on this hate speech and co. The government should key in to human capital and this will enable the citizens in engaging doing one or two things.
Lai Muhammad is a big full. A very big lier I don’t know what you people even call us, N336m for hate speech and fake news? So if anybody say against President muhammadu buhari or criticize him now in coming 2021 administration…the person will not go free. You people must be mad, you will never see God mercy in your life including national assembly and the cabinet.
I hope they will spend this money on what to they earmarked it for because most of the money budgeted for anything in the country is siphoned by few people and this will not move our country forward. They should just make sure they spend the money judiciously.
There is no need of fighting hate speech by the government instead what they should do is to listen attentively to the si called hate speech/hate speeches and find ways to correct and make amendments to what people are saying

If government of Nigeria from state to the federal do the right thing nobody we speak hate speech against any government. Don’t waste money on unnecessary things.
