A traffic warden identified as Igri Nna Nkanu, was celebrated by #EndSARS protesters in Calabar for his hard work and dedication to duty.

When the protesters got to his post on Friday, they gathered around him, carried him shoulder high and cheered him on for doing a job. In the video, some of the protesters could be seem spraying money on him as he smiled from ear to ear.

Commenting on the celebration, popular to journalist, Iwara Iwara, revealed that Mr Nkanu, who is described as Calabar’s N0. 1 traffic warden, received financial reward in 2016 from many public spirited individuals and companies.

“SHOW THIS TO A POLICE MAN/WOMAN NEAR YOU!
In 2016, I undertook a personal smart campaign to reward IGRI NKANU, unarguably Calabar’s No. 1 traffic warden, for his hard work and dedication to duty,” he wrote.

“That campaign gifted him a considerable amount of cash, contributed by several Nigerians at home and abroad. I also nominated him for the GTBank traffic warden of the year, sent in a short video of him at work and he came so so close to winning it. The bank, convinced he must be appreciated and encouraged, called him up in December of that year and splashed cash and gifts on him… he was awed and wept over the phone when he called to inform me,”

“Unlike most of his colleagues, who stand at different spots in our towns and villages, intolerably complicating things for motorists, commuters and anybody ‘wey eye see’, he exceptionally does his traffic warden job to the latter,”

“When the #endsars protest in Calabar got to him, he was surrounded, carried shoulder high and celebrated for doing a GOOD job. The action of these protesters carries a powerful message to his colleagues and more than a lesson for us all.
Dare to be DIFFERENT!”

  1. A better life has been achieved when we are no longer trying to achieve a better life. It means that we are content, as we should be, with ourselves and what we have. To be anxious for more or to envy someone else’s life or possessions is self-defeating. We are then in a constant state of frustration, always hoping and waiting for more happiness

    1. The governor of that state should take it up from there. Reward the man for not doing eye service in his job and for not taking the job as business as usual, cos that’s how most government workers do.

  2. Happiness has nothing to do with your life’s circumstances, it’s based on your ability to accept the things you are experiencing.

  3. Happiness is not hard to find. It’s beside you, it’s in front of you, it’s at your back, it’s around you. It’s just a matter of appreciation

  4. Never depend on people to help create your happiness because you might be depressed forever. If you rely on yourself then you know you always have someone to count on.just be happy for a successful protest.

  5. It is good he is being celebrated. When someone is good and is doing things right, people will know
Nigerians are good people but it is our government that is fermenting trouble

  6. Hardworking pays if someone can endure because government doesn’t pay hardworking people but they only pay mediocre. Kudos to Nigerian youths.

  7. Congratulations to him, that’s kind of gesture we want he this country not like paying senators exorbitant money without doing anything.

  8. At least this will serve as a lesson to others that no matter what you are doing if government didn’t reward you, there are some outside that they are watching you. Good gesture.
