The genuine protesters were peaceful – Lagos Deputy Gov, Obafemi Hamzat says as he calls for reconciliation among residents

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat has called for reconciliation among residents amid the #EndSARS crisis across the country. 

The Deputy Governor admitted that the #EndSARS protesters were peaceful in an interview on Star 101.5FM today October 23, but added that it was hijacked by hoodlums who unleashed violence across Lagos and Nigeria.

Hamzat who expressed disappointment that those who did not mean well succeeded in discrediting the exercise to achieve their sinister motives, also maintained that despite the unfortunate turn of events which led to the destruction of infrastructure, such as the City Hall, the Palace of the Oba of Lagos, the ultramodern Oyingbo Transit Hub, among many others, Lagosians must come together as a united people to rebuild. 

He said; 

 “We have to be sincere. The genuine protesters were peaceful. They were demanding for something that we all can understand and the Governor and myself marched with them.”

The Deputy Governor also enjoined youths to embrace peace. He added;; 

“We must dialogue with ourselves, we must intelligently sit down and decide the best way to move our State and Country forward.

“Let’s all calm down; let’s all relax. Let’s not destroy businesses set up to employ our people. Those who have ideas should bring them up for discussion.”

  1. We have said this severally and we shall continue saying it, the protesters are not thugs and there not hoodlums, they protest without any harm. The people behind the killing in lekki toll gate shall regret it. They will never succeed in life with there entire life.

    1. When the #endsars protest started everything is going smoothly before hijacked by some hoodlums, then once you know that it was hijacked and instead of protecting the protesters with security agencies, you asked the security to shoot them.

  2. We have the right to protest and when we started the protesting, you have the right to protect the protesters but you didn’t do that instead sending thugs to scare them away but the reverse is the case now look at the situations on ground.

  3. The deed has been done and the next thing is to come together and unite but before this could be achieved they need to solve the problems on ground in order not spring up at any time.

  5. One of the worst feelings in the world is when someone you care about starts treating you differently because of just one little mistake you made.

  8. These are very good leaders APC should have put forward to lead the country at the national level..and its not too late to do. Very sincere. Unlike the robots that you need to prime well before they appear to talk.Lagos state is only unlucky to bear the brunts of the FG and must demand to be adequately compensated for the damages
