National Assembly has no power to summon Buhari – Malami

Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, has stated that the National Assembly has no constitutional power to summon President Muhammadu Buhari.

Malami stated this on Wednesday in a statement titled ‘Buhari’s Summon: NASS Operates Outside Constitutional bounds.’

The AGF expressed that, “National Assembly has no constitutional power to envisage or contemplate a situation where the president would be summoned by the national assembly on the operational use of the armed forces.”

He also noted the right of the President to engage the National Assembly and appear before it is “inherently discretionary in the President and not at the behest of the National Assembly.”

  1. When the national assembly doesn’t have the power to summon the president of their country then who will summon him? This is pathetic.

  2. Is he not going to give account on how things are going in the country or what are you saying self. This is bad governance in the country.

  3. It is only God that can save us in this country, when you have incompetent hands ruling the country or allow the selfishness to overcome patriotism, what would you call that?

  4. If he won’t answer national assembly then let him come out publicly and tell us the effort that has been done to move Nigeria forward. That is it.

  5. Nothing like constitution is this one o, if it’s National Assembly that will help or tell him how to pilot the country wella, let him just answer them anytime they summoned him please.

  6. If he is the real buhari let him appear and answer questions as a president, I know he will not appear before the house

  7. I see nothing wrong in them some money him it is all our country and all hands must be on Deck to make it a safe place for us to inhabit
