Lance corporal Martins Idakpini, the Soldier arrested for criticizing COAS Tukur Buratai has been granted bail after 7 months in detention.
Idakpini was arrested and detained in Abuja after a video he made in June 2020 went viral. In the video, he accused Buratai of poorly managing the fight against insurgency.
According to Idakpini’s lawyer, Tope Akinyode, a court martial sitting in Sokoto ordered his release on bail.
“Court martial grants bail to Lance Corporal Martins Idakpini. The court sitting in Sokoto made the order today after I argued the bail application. Idakpini was arrested for criticising army authorities. He’s been detained for 7 months without access to his family, Akinyode said
Nigeria is a lawless country because how would you denied someone access to his family because he speak up his mind.
I hope those involved will to make amendment where he alleged instead of persecute him and court martial him.
I pray that he will be set free from the leadership of army and give those fighting bokoharam and other insurgencies adequate moral to fight them.
Thank God for his release and unite with his family, I hope he will be released permanently.
Misuse of power….
Who is brutai that he cannot be criticised. Is he above the president that is being criticized everyday, every hour. You arrest someone and detained him for 7 months without courtmarshal and denied him access to see his family. What a country. The question is, are the issues he raised in the criticism true or false.Brutai will not be army chief for life. His cup will full one day
Thank God o….. congratulations they have arrested shikarau. Idiot people .
