Herders’ 7-day ultimatum: We’re fully behind Akeredolu, he heard our cries – Ondo farmers, drivers, forest guards

Farmers, forest guards and drivers in Ondo State have thrown their weight behind the seven days ultimatum given by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to herdsmen to vacate forest reserves across the state.

The groups, who stormed Akure, the state capital, stated that they were the most affected with the incessant banditry and kidnappings in the state.

While emphasizing that some of the members had been either kidnapped or killed, they said the decision taken by the state governor was done in the best interest of the people in the state.

Some of the farmers said if the current state of insecurity is not urgently checked, it might lead to famine in the state, while the drivers emphasized that commercial drivers were no longer safe when driving through the state.

According to the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in the state, Jacob Adejo, his members need protection as herders attacked them with impunity as well as kidnapped them while going about their legitimate business.

  1. It’s only a fool will not support and back the ultimatum giving to them by governor because of the atrocities committed by these people is bad.

  2. Governor Akeredolu should not make you turn about the ultimatum giving to them, if anyone of them want to stay in ondo state, they should go and register with the government through the ministry in charge.

  3. When we have the president that can’t take drastic measures to tackle the menace of these herdsmen instead the presidency will be backing them upon their evil acts.

  4. At least with this step, people of ondo state would now be free from their wickedness acts, thanks to ondo people for giving him (Akeredolu) solidarity support.
