‘Resist being used by Politicians’ — Ooni warns Sunday Igboho

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has warned popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Igboho to resist being used by politicians seeking to hijack his agitations against killer herdsmen in the South West.

Oba Adeyeye made this known in an interview with Arise TV on Thursday as he commended Igboho for taking on the campaign against herdsmen but also advised him not to take laws into his hands instead, allow constituted authorities to handle the herdsmen menace in the region.

“Let us be very objective. He (Igboho) is being a mouthpiece for the downtrodden. He came up and everybody is listening now but my advice to him as a traditional ruler is that he needs to be very careful so that the politicians won’t hijack the whole motive from him,” he said.

“He has done well and we have already praised him but he shouldn’t take laws into his hands. We have the governor there, he is the chief security officer of the state and Mr President has invited him (Makinde). Let the right people that are being authorised to do what is right do it.

“He (Igboho) has done well and the world has heard him but everything should be done in moderation.”

  1. If those constituted authority we are talking about can listen to our agitation at appropriate time, things won’t be like this but they won’t listen until negative action is taken by the people.

  2. So many people died during his tenure which is baffles Nigeria, he didn’t do well in discharging his duty.

  3. But when Fulani herdsmen are killing, maim and kidnapping people no obas go to buhari and inform him the situation, why is it that when people rise up defend themselves you will now be discouraging them.

  4. I have been praying the same prayers let it not be that politicians are the once behind all this things that are ongoi. In this time

  5. Politics is business and every businessman find revenue for exploitation for maximize profit. If Sunday Igboho allow himself to be used, the that tag of Freedom fighter will elode him. He will end up serving the interest of the politician that attract his sympathy. That’s why I have my respect to our own freedom fighter in the Southeast who stand firmly on what he believe, the restoration of Biafra and his resolve not to go back on this resolve. Sunday Ighoho may be vulnerable to politicians because he seem to be fighting alone without known followers. If he see money, he may abandon the fight
