“It is completely false that it was Mary Slessor that first emancipated for the killings of twins in Calabar” – Governor Ayade’s aide says

The Special Assistant to Cross River State Governor on Strategic Communication, Andrea Ekeng Inyang has described as false the popular historical ‘fact’ that Scottish Presbyterian missionary, Mary Slessor stopped the killing of twins in Calabar.

According to Inyang, the history is celebrated in ignorance and speaks volume on how much colonialism has affected the country.

“It is completely false that it was Mary Slessor that first emancipated for the killings of Twins in Calabar, Nigeria. This history is celebrated in ignorance and it speaks volume of the effect of colonialism.” he wrote on Tuesday.
