Security operatives bar unvaccinated civil servants from federal secretariat in Abuja

Federal Civil Servants in Abuja who have not taken the COVID-19 vaccine were barred from entering their offices on Wednesday, Dec 1.

This was according to the deadline of December 1 set by the Federal Government.

As of Tuesday, Nov. 31, there was a rush at different COVID-19 vaccination centres in Abuja as staff tried to get vaccinated before the deadline. Those who didn’t meet the deadline were barred from entering their offices today.

The directive from Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, reads: “Federal Government employees shall be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours to gain access to their offices in all locations within Nigeria and our Missions”. He said the decision was taken in the best interest of Nigerians and to prevent the spread of the pandemic in the country.
