NBA conference: It is high level prejudice – Muric reacts as NBA withdraws El-rufai’s invitation

Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has described the NBA’s decision to withdraw El-rufai’s invitation to its conference as a high level of prejudice.

The NBA yesterday removed the name of El-Rufai from the list of speakers at its 2020 Virtual Annual General Conference (AGC) which is scheduled for 26th to 29th August, 2020.

Reacting to this, the Islamic human rights organisation in a statement made available through its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, said the NBA should know better than to cancel El-rufai’s invitation adding that it is parochial, myopic and jejune.

“NBA yesterday dropped Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State from the list of speakers at its Virtual AGC which is billed to start on 26th August, 2020. It is high level prejudice. The NBA as a group of learned literati should know better. It is parochial, myopic and jejune, he said

“The fact that NBA took the ill-advised step on account of a petition written by a group, Open Bar Initiative whose main fear is expressed as ‘One can be sure that he will also use the given platform to advance his conflated narrative, designed to deceive and confuse the nation on the real causes of the killings’ exposes NBA’s impatience, intolerance and self-conceit.

“Is it not better to hear him out than to lock him out? Is it not better to jaw-jaw than to war-war? The departure of the ambassador, they say, is the beginning of war.

“By dropping El-Rufai, NBA has declared war on the other side in the Southern Kaduna crisis. By so doing, it lost a golden chance to be part of the solution to the conflict. The NBA has elected to be part of the problem, the statement reads in part

  1. Withdrawal of this, I don’t think it is prejudice because withdrawal of this is based on the fact finding about him. I don’t think you should religionise this issue.

  2. You (MURIC) should not politicize everything, when we are talking about an organization, there are some that does not concern some religious. Everything is not politics.

  3. Must everything be argued. The action of the NBA to shut El Rufai out is a well taken decision.
I wonder what a leader like El Rufai will come out to tell the people
Let him first of all go back home and keep his house in order
Let him stop the massacre that is taking place in his dormain Kaduna
The blood shed there is alarming and a thing of great concer to all right thinking persons with conscience
The land of Kaduna smells blood under the watch of this so called Nassir El Rufai
El Rufai needs more harsh treatment that will pass the one the NBA has given to him
Kudos to the NBA, this is a step taken in the right direction
El Rufai with any one in his camp be it a person or group of persons should go and hide their faces in shame
