Update: “We suspect woman who butchered her mother to pieces is not of sound mind” – Akwa Ibom Police
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed that a woman identified as Mary Imewe allegedly butchered her mother, Eka Ime, to pieces in Ikot Ekpene local government area of the state.
Recall that the shocking incident happened at Ikot Akpang in Ikot Ekpene on Friday, November 26.
According to eyewitnesses, when the police came to arrest her, the suspect also known as ‘Mummy’ reportedly told them to take her away as she does not care.
“She said it herself that she don’t care. Elders of the community made sure she carried her dead mother’s body on her head which she butchered into pieces.” a witness revealed.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Odiko Macdon, who confirmed the incident on Saturday November 27, said the suspect is in custody and investigations are ongoing on the case.
Macdon said no right minded individual would slaughter her own mother in such a gruesome manner, noting that the police would have to get medical personnel to certify her state of mind before she is charged to court.
“That story is true. She butchered her mum. We are suspecting that she is not of sound mind but we do not have any medical capacity to say so. Medical personnel will have to determine if she is of sound mind or not. If not, which right minded, thinking individual will kill her own mom by butchering her?” he stated.
“As I speak, we have her in custody. We have gathered the corpse of the mom and deposited it in the mortuary. By the time we ascertain her state of mind, we will charge her accordingly. We have conducted preliminary investigations and more discreet investigations is on the way and she will be charged to court immediately after that,” he added.
What could possibly be her reasons…
As you said in statement, you shouldn’t reach conclusion just like that let the medical personnel certify her wether she is in a state of mentally derailed or not.
this is serious I think the same too because someone in its normal sense we not possibly do this it is either she is mentally deranged or is a spiritual issue
Why is that all kinds of awful incident happening day in day out, may Almighty God have mercy on us in this nation.
This is pathetic, the woman that gave birth to you butcher her without thinking twice. I don’t think she is normal.
Hope she doesn’t want to use it for something else because it baffles me to see someone carried out such atrocity. Police should do thorough investigation on this matter.
