It’s shameful we had better life than our children – Pat Utomi tells Nigerian leaders
Popular Nigerian Professor of Political Economy, Pat Utomi, has said Nigerian leaders should be ashamed of the type of life they are giving the younger generation.
Utomi opined that it is shameful that life in the past was far better than what the youths are inheriting from their parents this time.
Speaking on Friday at a symposium to commemorate the installation of Hon. Ladi Adebutu as the Lisa Aje of Egbaland he said; “We should feel a deep sense of personal shame that we had a better life than our children.” According to Prof Utomi, this must not be allowed to continue if the future of Nigeria is to be guaranteed.
“In most societies, the question people ask is that, ‘is your life better today than it was yesterday?. Every generation is expected to have a life better than the generation before. We, as teenagers, as young professional men and women have had better lives than our children and we must not let this to continue,” he said
He compared the country to Singapore, which he said was once in the same condition as Nigeria. According to him, there is nothing Singapore did that Nigeria has not done, yet the country remains in the same position.
“Where is the place of discipline in development? Where is the place of commitment? Singapore’s progress was significantly a result of forced-saving, that is saving money by force, ditto pension funds, ditto housing funds. Today, our money is disappearing from pension funds,” he said.

Instead of progressing we are retrogressing
While other countries are moving forward we are drawing backwards
Even without saying it out we have already known that you have failed woefully. Corruption has taken over this country by your generation (pat utomi).
Corruption has eaten deep in the country because all of you are very corrupt elements including those judges, that is why everyone is swimming in the pool of corruption.
If nothing is done about the issue of corruption in land, one day you people will just put up Nigeria for sale. Wicked leaders.

The situation of Nigeria today cannot in anyway be comparable to that in the past
I advise if our leaders are tired of the country or tired of ruling the country let us know so that you can easily handover to military… instead of driving us to wrong place, now we are afraid of not put Nigerian in to for sale now.. because with the look of things now … in fact I can even mention. May Almighty Allah see us through and give us a great guidance.
