Muslim-Muslim Presidential ticket in 2015 would have torn Nigeria apart – Fani-Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has expressed that a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2015 between President Muhammadu Buhari and former Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu would have torn Nigeria apart.

Fani-Kayode said this while reacting to a statement by former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola that ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo was responsible for terminating the Buhari-Tinubu presidential ticket in 2015.

In a tweet he shared via his twitter handle, the former Minister agreed that although Obasanjo spoke against it, he was the first to blow the whistle against Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2015.

According to him, his contribution in 2015 was a historic one because a Muslim ticket would have been a deep insult to Christians and would have torn Nigeria apart.

He wrote;

OBJ spoke against it but I was the first. I blew the whistle before anyone else. OBJ spoke only AFTER I wrote my essay warning about the dangers of a Muslim Muslim ticket.

..We must not distort history. I am proud of the role played then and I did it for Nigeria and for my faith. A Muslim Muslim ticket in 2015 would have been.a deep insult to Christians and it would have torn Nigeria apart.

  1. Which past are you referring to? Is it when Abiola contested or what? I don’t think you know what you are saying.

  2. I don’t know why muslim-muslim ticket of 2015 should be a thing of concern to us not. let it go because it did not happen and it will not happen. Its true FFK made mention of it way back then, but he is not a member of APC to influence the decision of the party then or even now. OBJ may not be the first to raise alarm over the issue but being a member of the party then he was able to influence and change the decision
