Buhari nominates Buratai, other Ex-Service Chiefs as Ambassadors

President Muhammadu Buhari has recommended the appointment of all immediate past service chiefs as non-career ambassadors.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

They include; former Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin, the former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, and the former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.

Others are former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, and the former Chief of Defence Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Usman.

Buhari’s letter to Senate President Ahmad Lawan on this development reads: “In accordance with section 171 (1), (2) (c) & sub-section (4) of 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I have the honour to forward for confirmation by the Senate, the under-listed five (5) names of nominees as Non-Career Ambassadors-Designate.”

The President called on the lawmakers to give quick attention to the recommendation.

  1. Those that are just being released of their work, president buhari still go ahead to nominate them as non carrier ambassador, this is bad.

  2. Is this how we going to be recycling people always, there are lots of young energetic graduates who can perform Excellently, this is bad.

  5. There is something this service chiefs know, there is a secret at Aso villa that the service chiefs know. I don’t see why they should be appointed for any office at all they should be in prison
