Benin Republic ready to be Nigeria’s ‘37th state’ – Minister
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has revealed that the President of Benin Republic, Patrice Talon, has expressed readiness for his country to be part of Nigeria.
The Minister made this known shortly after a closed-door meeting with Beninoise Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Aurélien Agbenonci on Friday. The minister stated that the Beninoise president gave the offer when he visited President Muhammadu Buhari, a few weeks back.
“The President of Benin said as far as they are concerned, they want (not just saying it like that) but in reality, Benin should be the 37th state of Nigeria,” Onyeama said.
“We should really be one. They charged us to come together at ministerial level, to work out a framework for a sustainable relationship, he added
Onyeama also revealed that during the meeting on Friday, both Ministers discussed agreements between the two countries on how to put the issue of smuggling to an end, once and for all.
hmmmmmmmm….. it’s can’t be too good or bad moves…..
We are still battling with lots of issues and you still want to add to it, you won’t succeed at all.
I’m not sure it be possible and again I did not trust Nigeria because everything is possible in Nigeria. Let’s be looking.
Very very important. They should try and sort out this border issues. The border is too porous
