Why we gave N100,000 each to students evacuated from Sudan – FG

Dr Sani Gwarzo, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, has explained why the Federal Government gave N100,000 each to students evacuated from Sudan.

According to Gwarzo, the stipend was a life-saving support for the evacuees who were coming from a distressing situation.

He also welcomed the evacuees back home and expressed hope for peace returning to Sudan and the rest of Africa. Mr Mustapha Ahmed, Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), also stated that all Nigerians in need of evacuation had been successfully evacuated to Port Sudan and Egypt, and were waiting to be transported back to Nigeria.

He further disclosed that diplomatic issues, which had been the only problem they encountered, had been resolved.

He said; “Some of you may have encountered difficulties, or all of you, but it will soon be over; you will be reunited with your families, and the trauma will be over.

“So, we welcome you back home, and we look forward to peace returning not only in Sudan but in the whole of Africa and the world at large,” he told NAN.
