Lagos State Government arraigns Eze Ndigbo, Nwajagu

The Lagos state government has arraigned Frederick Nwajagu, the Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate in Lagos, on charges of terrorism. Nwajagu was arrested on April 1 after a video went viral in which he threatened to invite members of the Indigenous People of Biafra to Lagos to protect properties belonging to Igbo people residing in the state.

Nwajagu appeared before the state high court in Tafawa Balewa Square on nine counts, including “attempt to do acts of terrorism, participation in terrorism, meeting to support a proscribed entity, attempt to finance an act of terrorism and preparation to commit an act of terrorism.” The charges were filed against him by the state government, and a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Justice represented the Attorney General of Lagos State. Nwajagu pleaded not guilty, and the trial has been adjourned until July 4.
