El-Rufai turns down ministerial appointment, jets out of the country

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, has chosen not to join President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet as a minister.

This was according to a report by PREMIUM TIMES. El-Rufai conveyed his decision to President Tinubu during a meeting on Tuesday. He expressed that he no longer wishes to become a minister, but intends to continue contributing to Nigeria’s development as a private citizen.

Citing sources from the presidency, Premium Times also mentioned that the former governor informed the president about his need to concentrate on his doctorate program at a university in The Netherlands. Additional sources confirmed that El-Rufai, who had already left the country, was quite disappointed that President Tinubu hadn’t facilitated his cabinet inclusion if he truly wanted him there.

Furthermore, an insider shared with the same source that El-Rufai recommended a new ministerial candidate, Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, for Kaduna State. He believed that Sani would be exceptionally beneficial and resourceful to the President’s administration.
