Former NBA President, Olumide Akpata resigns from law firm to pursue Gubernatorial ambition

Olumide Akpata, the former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has tendered his resignation from Templars, a prominent law firm where he held the position of Senior Partner.

In a statement released on Thursday, Akpata conveyed his decision to depart from the firm, citing his desire to contribute to the crucial task of nation-building.

His resignation follows shortly after he joined the Labour Party (LP) and indicated his intention to vie for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State.

The firm confirmed his departure through a statement dated August 24, 2023, explaining that Akpata formally informed the other partners and management about his decision to engage in active politics. In accordance with the firm’s governance protocols, it was mutually agreed that he would step down from his role at the firm, effective Thursday, August 31, 2023.
