Court convicts Lagos medical director to life imprisonment for defiling wife’s niece 

A Lagos doctor named Olufemi Olaleye, who serves as the Medical Director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court in Ikeja.

The sentence was a result of his conviction on two charges related to the defilement and sexual assault by penetration of his wife’s 15-year-old niece. The court found him guilty of these offenses, ruling that the prosecution provided compelling evidence beyond a reasonable doubt, which was consistent with the victim’s testimony.

During the trial, the doctor’s wife revealed that her husband had been sexually abusing her niece during her stay with them, introducing her to explicit material and oral sex. The abuse reportedly began in March 2020 and continued until July 2021. The victim eventually confided in a relative and their driver, expressing fear for her safety if she disclosed the abuse.
