NAF helicopter crashes in Port Harcourt

A helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force on Friday crashed in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

Edward Gabkwet, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force, officially confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday. According to him, the helicopter, identified by the registration number NAF MI-35P, crashed at precisely 7:45 a.m. shortly after embarking on a mission targeting economic saboteurs in Rivers State.

Gabkwet additionally mentioned that all occupants on board not only survived the crash but also sustained “minor injuries,” and have been attended to at the NAF Medical Centre

“The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, is currently en route Port Harcourt to access the situation for himself, see to the wellbeing of the crew and give further directives,” the statement partly read.
