FAAN, CBN relocation: As long as he is interested in the votes of the Northerners, He should reverse these unconstitutional decisions – Katsina Elders warn Tinubu

The Katsina Elders’ Forum has strongly opposed the proposed relocation of crucial projects, including the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport’s renovated airport rescue and firefighting vehicles project, to the southern part of the country.

The forum has urged President Tinubu to reconsider this decision, warning that he risks losing support from the Northern region in the 2027 elections if he proceeds with the relocation. After a closed-door meeting expressing apprehensions about the potential socio-economic repercussions on Northern Nigeria, the forum’s Secretary, Aliyu Mohammed, accused certain individuals of providing misguided advice to President Tinubu. He characterized them as enemies of Nigeria seeking to undermine the nation’s unity.

”Therefore, we are telling Mr. President, as long as he is interested in coming back in 2027, as long as he is interested in the votes of the Northerners, to reverse these unconstitutional decisions. Whoever is advising him to take such decisions is an enemy of the country.”

In addition, the forum accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of aligning with the federal government’s plan to move critical projects. They questioned the rationale behind inviting Israelis to provide security for Abuja.

Emphasizing the importance of addressing the security challenges in the North as a priority, the forum asserted that if crucial departments are relocated to Lagos amid the prevailing insecurity in the region, the North would not be inclined to support President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
