The lack of strong condemnation from our scholars often leads to the misconception that those barbaric acts of banditry are linked to Islam – Bashir Ahmed

Bashir Ahmad, the former special assistant on Digital Communications to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, criticized Islamic scholars for their silence on the issue of banditry in northern Nigeria.

Expressing his confusion on social media, he questioned why these scholars aren’t actively denouncing any link between Islam and banditry. Ahmad emphasized that bandits are not connected to the Islamic faith, and their actions contradict religious teachings. He further highlighted the statistical evidence of the harm inflicted on Muslims and Hausas in regions like Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, etc.
