It’s okay to say No. I regret not saying No to a fiance – DJ Cuppy

Florence Otedola, the Nigerian disc jockey widely recognized as DJ Cuppy, reflected on her challenging experiences last year, attributing them to her reluctance to say “No” frequently.

She specifically lamented not asserting herself and saying “No” to her former fiancé, Ryan Taylor. During a recent event overseas, DJ Cuppy shared her newfound realization that it is perfectly acceptable to decline or say “No” when necessary.

She said, “One of the things I have learned is saying no. I had one of the worst years of my life last year because I couldn’t say no. I didn’t say no to opportunities that I should have said no to. I didn’t say no to a fiancé I should’ve said no to. I didn’t say no to taking things on.

“I was at the BBC; I had a morning breakfast show, then I was DJing, i was planning a wedding, I was in Oxford University. I burnt myself out. And none of us are either good to ourselves or other people when we burnt out. So, we have to deal with that guilt that comes with saying no. It’s okay to say no.”
