BREAKING: Obaseki raises Edo workers’ minimum wage to N70,000

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has announced a raise in the minimum wage for workers in the state civil service to N70,000, effective from May 1, 2024.

Obaseki made this declaration on Monday during the inauguration of the Labour House, constructed for the organized labour in the state. The building was dedicated to the memory of former governor Adams Oshiomhole.

Governor Obaseki stated that his administration is committed to increasing the minimum wage for state workers from N40,000 to N70,000. He further pledged to elevate the monthly salary of employees to over N70,000 should the Federal Government endorse a new minimum wage for its workforce.

The governor announced that further details regarding the new minimum wage would be unveiled to the public during the commemoration of this year’s Workers Day on Wednesday, May 1.
