Most Teachers in Nigeria are political appointees – Minister of Education

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has ascribed the poor learning ability of students in schools to the poor quality of teachers who he said are political appointees, in other words may not have the necessary qualifications

The minister spoke yesterday in Abuja at the opening of a two day retreat for officials in the education sector.
He said. “We will develop our teachers; pupils in schools are not learning anything because of poor teacher quality and most of the teachers are political appointees.
