“There was no massacre, right?” Nigerians ask as Lagos Chief Coroner calls on the public to come and identify persons who went missing between Oct 19-27

The Chief Coroner of Lagos State has issued a call for members of the public to come and identify bodies that arrived at the morgue between October 19 to October 27.

The press release from the office of the Chief Coroner asked “those who have lost loved ones between 19th – 27th October 2020” to contact the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine in Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeji.

The statement asked those relatives to come for the “identification exercise of the deceased.”

The Lekki tollgate shooting happened on October 20, 2020. Since then, the number of missing persons posts on Twitter have increased with people saying they haven’t seen loved once since the day of the Lekki shooting.

With the Coroner’s announcement, Twitter users have begun asking the government for answers.

“There was no #LekkiMassacre, right?! #EndSARS,” Human rights activist, Chidi Odinkalu asked while sharing the coroner’s press release.

Twitter activist, Ayobami Ayobami reacted to the press release, tweeting: “Friendly reminder that @jidesanwoolu lied that he visited ALL the morgues that night and didn’t find bodies.”

  1. Government won’t say the truth about what they do or engage but what I know very well is truth will surely come to lime light.

  2. If anyone is looking missing loved ones they should go to the place and meet the coroner officer to do the needful.

    It is a pity. They claim there was no shooting, so from where are these dead bodies coming from

  4. Truth be told many people are truly missing since the day of the 2010 2020 massacre at lekki toll gate identifyingidentifying the dead body will be another evidence but we still know it will be hidden from the general public so what do we have to say
