Faulty train: “Nigeria using huge loans to pay for refurbished locomotives” – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Lawmaker, Shehu Sani has reacted to the frequent breakdown of locomotives along the Abuja-Kaduna Train network.

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi had promised to call the attention of the Chinese to the issue.

Following this, Sani who was the Chairman of Senate Committee on Loans and grants while in office, in a tweet accused the government of buying refurbished locomotives that could put endanger the lives of commuters.

He added that the Chinese contractors must replace the locomotives at no extra cost.

“Faulty Train Locomotive; It’s painful and tragic for Our country to pay for substandard or refurbished locomotives with huge loans. The broken down locomotives along Kaduna Abuja is putting the lives of many in danger. The Chinese contractor must replace them at zero cost to the Govt, he tweeted

  1. God is exposing them, imagine buying second hand trains for us, look at how much this people borrowed for those trains. Now what are we getting.

  2. That’s the problem we are facing in this nation, if you are in power you will surely be with them but when left, you will now be seen their faulty. Anything China, is noisy.

  3. The train that has not up to five months has started broken down and the government acquired it with huge amount of loan from China. This is bad.

  4. Hope those who is in charge don’t compromise with contractor to pay little and share the remaining money and bring the refurbished one which won’t last.

  5. Why bringing refurbished one? Why can’t they bring new one that will last long. If the train started breaking down now, how are we going to pay the money back?
