FG vows ASUU will not be given opportunity to go on strike again

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has assured that the Federal Government will do everything to make sure the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) does not embark on another strike.

Speaking on Wednesday on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Ngige noted that his three children were affected by the strike.

“I will not give ASUU the opportunity to go on strike. Because I have three biological children that suffered from this imbroglio that we found ourselves in and about 15 people on my scholarship in Nigerian Universities.

“My three biological children are here in Nigerian Universities. They even went to secondary school here. Two of them are American citizens and I had the option of leaving them to go study in America and enjoy the free education or whatever, but I didn’t.

“So, I am a committed parent. I am involved, even more than some ASUU members because some of them have their children in private schools,” Ngige said.

  1. I beg keep quiet with what you have been saying, you have three children in Nigeria university!!! Would you compare those children with yours? That’s nonsense.

  2. You people don’t value our institutions, how would the ASUU go on strike before they could listen to their voices. Government should desist from this attitude because it doesn’t pay.

  3. Continue your dialogue with the ASUU until both of you reach agreement. I have not heard news that any political office holders go on strike because of non payment of salary then why do you prefer owing workers salary at the expense of their family, this is bad.

  4. Any how you people want, you do
The only thing I know is that the Almighty God will judge all of you one by one
You put your children in schools abroad where the educational systems are superb and you now come back here and our our own educational system in a mess

  5. it is better for hair grow if he knows he has a way of settling this issue of striking should better do it because we’ve been home for a very long time and we don’t expect to go back into striking again before completing her academic activities this time around
