Insecurity: Outside Maiduguri, nobody is safe in Borno – Prof Dikwa
Dean of Borno Elders Forum, Professor Khalifa Dikwa has expressed concern over the spate of insecurity in the state. According to him, outside the capital of the state, Maiduguri, people living in Borno State are not safe.
He said this speaking on Channels Television’s Newsnight on Monday.
“Even if they (Boko Haram) are not physically there, they are psychologically there, disturbing the people,” he said
“From time to time, they ride their motorcycles, come and harass them to pay levies and so on. Outside Maiduguri, no even five kilometres, nobody is safe. And they can strike at any time.”
He further claimed that the military did not heed to the advice of the Private Military Contractor (PMC) to man the country’s land borders after they had “decimated” Boko Haram in 2014.
Prof Dikwa also called for more collaboration among security agencies in the fight against insurgency. He pointed out that the military alone cannot fight terrorism in Borno State.
this issue of insecurity in bornu state is very very bad and uncalled for I just pray the government do something about it and put an end to this issue
Borno is the HQ of insecurities in this country…. I pray that this bokoharam is a thing of the past very soon….
There are many people who volunteered as informant but devastated by bokoharam when they get to know that there are some informant in that village, security did nothing to save them.
All the service chiefs are from your region including the special adviser to the president on security matter then what are you saying, it’s better to inform the president to call them to order.
When you are lamenting to us, who do you want want us to lament to, most of your people are the one behind this insecurity in your region.
Talk to the president because he is from your region and we have complained tire whether he is going to listen to you.
