Maina has partial stroke and needs urgent medical attention – Lawyer alleges

Anayo Adibe, the legal representative of the former chairman of Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, has alleged that his client suffered a partial stroke at the Kuje correctional centre where he is being detained.

Adibe speaking on We FM alleged that his client is in a very bad shape after he was re-arrested in Niger Republic and extradited to Nigeria when he jumped bail.

He further noted that the correctional centre’s facility is not equipped enough to give Maina adequate medical attention adding that he has filed an application for his client to be granted bail on health grounds and it would be heard on January 20

Adibe said;

“I visited him at the prison about a week ago and from the visit, he was not looking fine at all. “I was told he had suffered a mild stroke, his blood pressure has been very high and his sugar level has risen astronomically. He is in a very bad shape.

“The resident doctor has written several letters to the authorities asking that he be taken to a better and well equipped medical facility. Those letters have not been responded to.

“As his lawyers, we have taken a step further. We have written the comptroller-general, informing him of the dire situation our client finds himself presently and that except he is afforded quick medical attention, the story might change very soon because the truth is that we fear for his life.”

  1. that is a lie for a stroke that he didn’t have when they apprehend him from Niger but now wants pardon based on medical ailments…. thieves of the highest order….

  2. He should face the consequences on what he did because he is the one who embezzled the money that meant for retirees.

  3. The management should not release this man to go to anywhere outside the country, we have the hospital that can take care of him in order not to run away.

  4. I hope the management of the correctional service management won’t released him in any circumstances because if he later released he will just run away.
