EFCC: Bawa’s appointment came as a shock – Magu

Former acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has reacted to the appointment of Abdulrasheed Bawa as the new Chairman of the commission.

According to Tosin Ajaomo, the lawyer to Magu, the appointment on Tuesday came as a shock, as justice has not been served in the allegations of corruption levelled against his client, Magu.

Buhari had yesterday asked the Senate to confirm Bawa as substantive EFCC Chairman.

“Sincerely, I need to tell you that this appointment came to me as a shock. There is still an unfinished assignment that was pending,” Ajaomo said.

“I was expecting that the issue of Magu would have been sorted out before moving to another stage.

“Unfortunately, we just got this news today that a new Chairman has been nominated by the President and his name has been forwarded to the Senate.”

Following a series of corruption allegations against the former EFCC boss, Magu was on July 10, 2020 suspended from office by President Buhari and Mohammed Umar, the EFCC Director of Operations had taken charge of the activities of the agency.

  1. There is no justice at all in the country because they believe whatever they do, they have nobody to query them.

  2. I think something is fishing somewhere, when you alleged the previous boss of misappropriation without establish your fact and you go ahead to appoint another person, that is injustice.

  3. Such is life, you just need to do your best and leave the rest for the incoming people. To serve Nigeria is not wholeheartedly.
