Malami won’t let Bawa succeed –Sagay

Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), has stated that Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), will not allow the new EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, to succeed.

He said this speaking in an interview with The PUNCH on Wednesday.

According to him, the minister nominated the new Chairman of the anti-graft agency for the position and so will interfere in his duties.

Sagay also alleged that Malami has been derailing the anti-corruption war of the Federal Government since he took over the position which has made him become too powerful. Sagay warned that Malami must not be allowed to directly control the activities of the EFCC and ICPC.

He maintained that Malami had never been inclined to support the independence of all anti-graft agencies in the country.

The senior advocate asserted that Malami is a politician who has all the weaknesses and loads of a politician, thus he is subjected to all kinds of temptation.

  1. That is why I say the EFCC is a corrupt institution, because wether you like it or not it is run by politicians whom they are supposed to be fighting. So where is the independence?

  2. Let’s wait and see what will happen if the new anti graft agency chairman started his work, until then nothing to say for now.

  3. Malami is also the one who wants the former EFCC chairman Ibrahim Magu out of office. I pray that God won’t allow him to succeed in the new EFCC chairman.
