DSS alerted Police & Gov Uzodinma a week before Imo attacks, yet they failed to act- EX-DSS Asst Director, Dennis Amachree

Former Assistant Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Dennis Amachree has disclosed that the agency alerted the police and Governor Hope Uzodinma of an impending attack on the Imo police command and prison facility a week before it occurred.

Amachree made the claim in an interview on a Channels Television programme. He said the police which is the actioning party failed to act even when told that some suspects that are being relocated around the area were found surveiling the prisons and the police headquarters.

The former DSS Assistant Director said;

“There is enough intelligence, enough actionable intelligence. Actionable in the sense that it allows for space for people to execute it. One week ahead of this particular event, of course, 72 hours before the event and then of course 48 hours before the event.

“Three times the Nigeria police was informed by the DSS that this is going to happen. Some suspects that are being relocated around the area were found surveilling the prisons and the police headquarters.

“But you know in our lackadaisical way when the intelligence will come they throw it by the side and then of course when something happens, everybody runs around.

“I listened to the governor’s speech. He is correct in the sense that there is an investigation still going on very sure he is very aware of some of the root causes and the people that are involved because I know that the security agencies are feeding him with reports as they go along.”

Amachree further added that former inspector-general of police, Mohammed Adamu did not get his facts right before alleging that the masterminds of the attacks are members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

  1. That is Nigeria attitude, lackadaisical one. When you people were told they kept quiet as nothing will happen

  2. Everything we do in Nigeria is campaign after election, there is no proactive measures in our dealings

  3. They were alerted that something of such may happen but they pretend as if the report is lie, can they see what later happened?

  4. That is how police behaves, the former IGP didn’t make any investigation before saying that IPOB is the one responsible for the attack
