BREAKING: Herdsmen attack IDPs camp, kill seven in Benue

Seven persons have been confirmed dead and several others injured, at Abagena community housing Internally Displaced Persons camp in Makurdi Local government Area of Benue State following an attack by Fulani herdsmen.

It was gathered that angry youths, who were enraged by the killings, took to the Makurdi-Lafia road to protest on Tuesday morning, blocking the roads with the dead bodies.

Reacting, the State Governor, Samuel Ortom in a statement, described the attack on the IDPs camp as inhuman, barbaric and unacceptable as he called on President Muhammadu Buhari to live up to his responsibility of protecting Nigerians.

The Governor disclosed that over seventy persons have been killed in Makurdi local Government in the last two weeks.

Ortom also called for urgent action against the activities of militia herdsmen across the country.

“If the Federal Government had taken the issue of militia herders seriously, it wouldn’t have escalated to this level,” he said.

  1. When the matter doesn’t affect them that’s why we see them condemning the deed without any action from the authority

  2. Don’t we have security in the country anymore? The security agencies should work together to fight this terrorist.

  3. This is beyond condemnation or sympathize with the family of the victims, government should do the needful without wasting time again
