Reps in sync with autocracy – Shehu Sani blasts lawmakers over refusal to lift ban on Twitter
Former Lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the decision by the House of Representatives to refuse lifting the ban placed on the microblogging platform, Twitter by the Federal Government.
Recall that the House of Representatives on Thursday, rejected the lifting of Twitter suspension in Nigeria as against the report of its committee on the issues.
The House was divided as some of the lawmakers seemed to be in support of the suspension placed on the platform by President Buhari barely a month ago.
Reacting to this in a tweet on Friday, Senator Sani said; “House of Representatives rejection of the lifting of the ban on Twitter is unfortunate and condemnable.
“This is a disappointing and disgraceful example of legislative support for the executive suffocation of the freedom of expression. They are historically in sync with autocracy”.
