2023 Presidency: “I will contest if God and Nigerians want me to” – Pastor Tunde Bakare speaks after meeting with Buhari

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the founder of Citadel Global Community Church (formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly), has said he would contest for presidency in the 2023 poll, if God and Nigerians ask him to.

The cleric stated this after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock on Friday.

Bakare was Buhari’s running mate in the 2011 general election on the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

When asked whether he would contest the 2023 presidential election, Bakare told State House correspondents that he would, only if God and Nigerians want him to. He said he has pastored a church for 33 years and now wants to focus on Nation building

He added, “I’m a nation builder. If God wants me to do that, and the people of Nigeria will appreciate that, why not?

“I’m as free as anybody to do anything. I have pastored a church for 33 years, now we raise new leaders. I want to focus on nation-building.

“I have already communicated clearly, my future plans to Mr. President, and it stays between us.”
